I drew this in pencil on crappy paper but at least I drew today.

I love Breaking Bad but after watching it I never feel particularly funny.

Mostly it’s because I don’t think I could do it in a way that’s funny. There are plenty of other strips out there that can and do, and I’m happy to do my own thing. I like to keep my comics family-friendly; I don’t draw my comics for kids, but I like the idea that kids can read them even if they might not get the jokes. Parents, read my comics with your kids.
Today was the official Hourly Comics Day! This was my day in comics form.

I don’t think there’s such a thing as a good theme for a comic, there’s just “good comics.” You can make good comics from the dumbest premise, or you can have a great idea and make awful comics from it. It’s all in the execution.

I doubt it. There are already plenty of comics that do that sort of thing much better than I could. I try to keep my comics free of pop culture references or things that will date it too much (I even try not to mention the year on New Year’s comics most of the time). I prefer for the comic to exist in its own world.
Besides, I’m kind of dumb so if I tried to address current events I’m sure I’d do it badly. "Boy Beartato, what do you think about that health care tax reform amendment? Sure is relevant to your foreign situation.“

Mostly they are just for fun and for practicing various techniques. Some of them come from ideas and doodles I did long ago for a story I ended up not writing. I would definitely like to do some sort of comic along these lines in the future, though.
