Welcome to Spring 2013 featuring Emily Carroll, Gigi D.G., Tyson Hesse, and Phil McAndrew!
Benign Kingdom’s Spring 2013 Kickstarter is live! They’ve got an incredible group of artists for this lineup and I’m really excited to see the results.
In addition, they’ve gotten the webstore up and running where you can buy the previous books, including mine!
Our B9 Kingdom Kickstarter has reached over $65,000 with 1,096 backers, and we’ve still got two weeks to go! You guys are the best!
I thought I’d do a followup since we’re at the halfway mark. For those who don’t know, Benign Kingdom is a collection of exclusive art books self-published by some the top talent in comics. This seasons there are four books (from me, Danielle Corsetto, Emmy Ciceriga and Anthony Clark) collecting each of the best our respective portfolios. Contributing to our Kickstarter can get you both digital and physical copies of our books, as well as some other great items like prints.
If you’re wondering what’s in my book, it includes some of my redesigns, lots brand new art and many of my “single image” stories like this:

A modest contribution can get you one of these books or all of them, you should check it out if you haven’t already!
WOWSERS AARON I’m even more excited to get your book now hahah
Mine has stuff like this in it

Again, thanks to EVERYONE who has even taken the time to look at our kickstarter, let alone pledge to it. You guys!!! Da best
And here’s a little taste of mine!
Hey! Do you like wizards and monsters and drawings and artbooks full of nice pictures by cool people?
I am pleased as punch to be a part of Benign Kingdom’s Fall 2012 lineup. Benign Kingdom was founded last year as a way to showcase various artists and print up some nice looking books. This second series will consist of books by Emmy Cicierega, Aaron Diaz, Danielle Corsetto, and myself. My book has lots of wizards and dragons in it. Please go take a look at the Kickstarter page for more information!
HEY ALL!
I have a 6-page mini story that will (for now) be exclusive to being part of a Sonic zine put on by the lovely people at TINY KITTEN TEETH! There are gonna be some GREAT artists in this and I hope everyone picks up their copy at SPX next weekend! I’m stoked to be alongside awesome contributors like KC GREEN, ASHLEY DAVIS, ANTHONY CLARK, TYSON HESSE, SHMORKY, TYLER HUTCHISON, MARLO MEEKINS and THEN SOME! WOW! Get excited!
Yeah! I did a thing for this too!!

As did I!

Internet!
In general, cartooning is lonely work, so it helps to be able to talk to other people in the field. Social networks are good for that and for spreading your work around, so they’re very useful for us! Back around when I started, Livejournal was the big community where cartoonists met each other and became friends. Nowadays it seems like Twitter and Tumblr are the top sites.
SPX is this weekend! I’m so excited. You can find me with TopatoCo in the back corner (tables W13-W20). I’ll have copies of the new book Beartato and the Various Things That Happened, and my Benign Kingdom artbook, and Becky and Frank will be nearby with the Speedhog zine I contributed to. Other people will have comics too, I think. Anyway there’s a chocolate fountain after the Ignatz awards so that’s the main thing

Here is a reminder that there are only three days left to get in on the Benign Kingdom Fall 2012 Kickstarter. We’ve gotten an incredible amount of support so far and the contributors have unlocked all sorts of bonuses and upgrades. We’ll have copies of the books available after they’re printed, but contributing to the Kickstarter can get you a better value and some of those sweet rewards!

I don’t have a clue! I’m not involved in the business side of the books. I just drew pictures.
